Lab / Work smarter

Suppose you could…

Prepare a meeting with a clear decision

Build a time-boxed agenda tied to a decision and a useful pre-read.

BY THE END, YOU CAN…

Build a time-boxed agenda tied to a decision and a useful pre-read.

Time is a practice estimate. Pause or return whenever you need.
01 / IMAGINE

A useful little possibility.

Your goal is a usable work artifact, not a perfect-looking AI answer. Build a time-boxed agenda tied to a decision and a useful pre-read.

02 / TRY

Let’s make a start.

Use a fresh conversation in an AI tool you are permitted to use. Copy the fictional sample below, then paste the starter prompt with it. No file upload, web search or paid integration is required.

1. Write the decision in one sentence.
2. Run the prompt.
3. Add the time boxes yourself.
4. Ask which agenda item can be removed if discussion runs long without losing the decision.

Your sample material

Fictional training material. No real customer information needed.

A 25-minute meeting will choose whether to run a second pilot. Rowan is the decision owner. Nia holds participant feedback; Omar holds provisional costs. Neither document has been circulated. The team must identify conditions for proceeding, not choose a venue today. Attendees: Rowan, Nia, Omar and you.

YOUR STARTER PROMPT
Create a 25-minute agenda with time boxes, purpose of each segment and expected output. Name the decision and its supplied owner. Add a pre-read checklist with document holders but do not claim they have agreed to prepare or distribute anything. Keep venue selection out of scope.

Keep personal and confidential information out of external AI tools. Start with the sample material.

03 / CREATE

Turn a first try into your thing.

Compare the result with the checklist before opening the worked example. Identify one specific weakness and ask for a targeted revision, referring to the original sample. If all checks pass, tighten the wording without changing the facts. Save the reviewed result in your own document; do not send or publish it as part of this exercise.

04 / UNDERSTAND

Pause for the “aha.”

An agenda should produce a decision or a clearly stated reason to defer. AI can structure the time, but it cannot supply authority the participants do not have.

CHECK YOUR RESULT

Useful beats convincing.

Check these against your actual output. Your answers stay on this device; this is self-review, not automated grading.

Agenda: 3 minutes frame the decision; 6 minutes review feedback; 5 minutes review provisional costs; 7 minutes weigh options and proceeding conditions; 4 minutes record Rowan’s decision, open questions and next actions. Total 25. Pre-read requests: ask Nia for participant feedback and Omar for provisional costs, then confirm who will distribute them. Venue choice stays parked. If key evidence is unavailable, Rowan can defer rather than treat silence as approval.

NOW MAKE IT YOURS

A new case. Your own approach.

Apply the review principles to these new facts, not the previous sample’s specific numbers or answers.

Prepare a 15-minute meeting to choose which survey question set to test. Mina owns the decision; two drafts exist; neither has been checked for clarity. Include a defensible defer option.

05 / SHARE & REMIX

One possibility leads to another.

Repeat on a small, permitted task of your own. Record what you changed and which check caught a problem. Keep using fictional inputs if workplace material is not approved for your chosen tool.
